BENCH NOTES / PLACEMENT

Apparel DTF size and placement guide

Measure on the bench before you order. These dimensions are starting points for artwork; your actual garment, seams and placement decide the fit.

Measure the print area

Lay the garment flat and smooth. Measure a clear printable area away from seams, zippers, buttons, pockets, and ribbing. Cut a paper rectangle at your proposed size and place it on the garment before you order.

Use the centerline between side seams, not a folded edge, to align front and back artwork. Check the smallest garment in a mixed-size run; one print size does not fit every blank.

Chest, front, and back

Eight garment placement diagrams mark left chest, center chest, full front, full back, youth front, sleeve, neck label, and pocket print areas.
Starting sizes for artwork. Measure your actual garment and preserve design proportions.

Left-chest artwork is a compact mark on the wearer’s left. Center-chest graphics sit centrally and are often wider than they are tall. Full-front and full-back prints need more clear space: check both width and height.

The dimensions below are artwork dimensions, not a required bounding box. Keep the design’s natural proportions. A narrow wordmark can be 8 inches wide without being 4 inches tall.

Sleeves, labels, and pockets

Small placements need readable artwork and even pressure. Use a platen or pressing support that keeps seams outside the pressing area. Keep neck-label text clear at actual size and avoid printing over the collar seam.

For a pocket, measure the flat printable face and leave space from its edges. For a sleeve, check the design while the garment is worn as well as laid flat.

Youth fronts and pocket logos

A youth front starts at 8 × 10 in, or 2400 × 3000 pixels at 300 ppi. Check the actual youth blank; keep the print clear of the collar and hem.

A pocket logo starts at 3 × 3 in, or 900 × 900 pixels. Measure inside the pocket seams and reduce the artwork when needed. Use even pressing support under the pocket face.

Match the file to the measurement

At 300 ppi, multiply each inch dimension by 300. A 2 × 3 in sleeve print needs 600 × 900 pixels. Check the exported file dimensions and remove excess transparent margins.
